The best part about winter – besides boots and mulled wine – are the darker cosmetics colours. There’s something so sassy about a dark lip on a cold night out! So these Bobbi Brown shades have been the perfect weapon against the winter blues. And both the lip colour and cream shadow contain vitamins and antioxidants, so they protect and nourish your skin, keeping that dreaded winter-dryness at bay.
Bobbi Brown look at beauty with women front of mind, inspiring confidence through simplicity. And their classic approach to products – from formula to packaging – follows this ethos.
One product that makes me feel instantly bold is the Crushed Lip Colour* in Blackberry. This deep berry/brown shade is reminiscent of the 90’s but with a little less grunge. The inclusion of beeswax means that it applies like a balm, keeping your lips super hydrated, and leaving a stained flush of colour. The 8-hour claims have nothing on my dry lips, but I’m used to that – I still haven’t found anything that lasts through a meal! What I do love is that it gives a matte, blotted-down finish and fades without feathering. And with 20 different shades, you’ll find something for any mood.
Then there’s the Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick* in Heather Steel, something I’ve been wearing regularly for the past month. This high-impact formula lasts 8 hours without creasing, flaking or fading – well, it does if I use primer. Damn oily lids! The deep mushroom shade hugs the line between brown and grey, making it ideal for any occasion, and it blends out perfectly. You can appy by swiping the stick across your eyelid and blending with your fingertips, or by gently swiping an eyeshadow brush across the top of the stick. I’ve tried both, and find that using a brush is better to define, and fingertips are better for blending.
Swatches above show three swipes of the Blackberry Crushed Lip Colour, and one swipe of the Heather Steel Cream Shadow, blended out to show the range you get from this one colour.
