We’ve all heard the buzz around so-called superfoods, with quinoa, kale, acai and spirulina being mentioned everywhere – so it comes as no surprise that they’re making their way into our bathrooms as well! First we saw haircare guru Kevin Murphy using quinoa in his Angel.Masque, and now Sukin are incorporating a blend of super greens into their latest skincare line. Bursting with goodness, the Sukin Super Greens range boasts benefits from a buffet of healthy foods, designed to promote a healthy glow and leave a clean, radiant complexion.
And if you need more convincing – the entire range smells like red frogs! (ok, technically it’s a cranberry scent, but it smells like lollies to me!)
The key actives in the Sukin Super Greens blend are:
Kale: with vitamins A and K to fight free radicals and brighten the complexion
Spirulina: proteins, minerals and fatty acids to give a youthful glow
Chlorella: to promote collagen production
Parsley: vitamins C, K and Beta Carotene to maintain even skin tone
Prep your skin with the Detoxifying Facial Scrub*, which contains a blend of detoxifying antibiotics combined with jojoba beads and bamboo, exfoliating whilst promoting a healthy glow. It also borrows benefits from pineapple, licorice and lime peel to treat acne and inflammation. It’s suitable for all skin types, but it’s a slightly scrubby scrub, with a mild abrasive feel to it – which I personally love, but you’d only need to use it 1-2 times a week max.
Next is my absolute must-have from the range, the Facial Recovery Serum*. Alongside the signature blend, you can find acai, grape seed oil, vitamin E and carrot seed oil. This magical mix of ingredients creates a creamy serum with a high antioxidant count that locks in moisture and leaves you with youthful, healthy skin. It’s creamier and more opaque than most serums, with no oily residue in sight. I use 2-3 pumps morning and night, and my skin simply laps it up. I predict will reach the same cult product status as the Australis Fresh & Flawless Pressed Powder!
This skin-saving serum then paves the way for the Nutrient Rich Facial Moisturiser, a lightweight non-greasy daily moisturiser that plumps the skin from the outside in. The natural ingredients include aloe, cocoa butter, shea butter, plus rosehip, jojoba and avocado oils, and the formula is non-irritating and easily absorbed. One full pump dispenses enough for around 3-4 uses, so you only need to press it down partially so that you’re not wasting product. And my oily/combo skin loves the moisturiser with or without the serum, but if you have dry skin, you’d definitely need a serum or mist to help it sink in.
If you have some extra time, I’d recommend you spend 15 minutes relaxing with the Detoxifying Clay Masque. This lightweight kaolin clay mask is infused with avocado oil, rosehip oil and goji berry to lock in moisture while encouraging a dewy complexion. It applies like a dream, and the high water content means that it doesn’t dry and crack on your face. It simply sinks in and does its job. Plus, you get an extra 15 minutes to enjoy the delicious cranberry scent!
My only minor complaint is that they’ve missed an opportunity by not including a cleanser in this range. I’d be all over that!
