Review: Ultraceuticals Ultra Moisturiser Eye Cream

Ultraceuticals Ultra Moisturiser Eye Cream

It finally happened. 26 years old and I found myself looking in the mirror, considering the fact that the skin under my eyes was looking a little… sad. Things are starting to change, and you know what they say – prevention is better than a cure. So in comes Ultraceutical’s Ultra Moisturiser Eye Cream*, recognised in the Prix de marie claire de la Beaute Awards, to reassure me that I’m still young, there’s no ageing going on over here! (*cough* New Year, New You!)

The miracle ingredient in this eye cream is hyaluronan – many of you might recognise this ingredient thanks to the popularity of Indeed Labs’ Hydraluron. Also referred to as hyaluronic acid, it can be found naturally in the body, acting as a lubricant molecule – however it slowly depletes as we age. The cosmetic hyaluronan created in labs is identical to the natural hyaluronan that your body is losing – so it makes sense that your skin loves it! It intensely hydrates and soothes in two ways: by absorbing deep into your skin, and by creating a protective layer on top. It also assists with tissue protection and regeneration, and a concentrated solution is commonly used in ophthalmic surgery to promote healing.

And as far as this eye cream goes – my skin definitely laps it up! I’ve noticed an improvement in skin elasticity and the skin under my eyes looks generally ‘plumper’. Hyaluronon works together with ceramides, vitamin E, cholesterol and linoleic acid to protect the delicate eye area from dehydration, and it is light enough to use on the most sensitive of skin (I’ve been using it day and night, and my skin loves it).

The formula is non-greasy and quite watery, it’s not a rich, luxurious eye cream – but it gets to work straight away, and I could notice a difference after only a week of using it. You only need to use the tiniest amount, like the size of a pin head, and that’s more than enough to spread around your eye area. So although the tube looks small, it will last a long time.Oh and one more fun thing I’ve noticed – if you’ve had a big night, or a bad night, and your eyes are feeling slightly puffy the next day, this is an absolute miracle. It eliminates that temporary puffiness within an hour! Gotta love that.
