There’s something about the word ‘balm’ that immediately appeals to me. It suggests calming, soothing and healing – just writing those words down make me feel instantly relaxed! So I am thrilled to be able to talk to you about The Jojoba Company’s Redness Reducing Balm*, from the company that won me over with a clever tagline – BEAUTY IS IN OUR NATURE – and then backed it up with a truly versatile product that does exactly what it says it will.
Packed full of antioxidants, this moisturising balm is ideal to calm your skin down when it’s having a bad day. It has a light jojoba scent, which I can only describe as lightly nutty and woody, but it doesn’t linger for too long. This of course comes from the hypoallergenic hero ingredient, 100% natural Australian jojoba, which is high in vitamins A, D and E, and omega 6 and 9, providing a boost of hydration and antioxidants. It also uses soothing chamomile, calming green tea, peppermint for recovery and cucumber for an extra pick me up. Plus, I have been informed that it is also clinically proven to increase the production of collagen by 80.6% and elastin by 63.2% – just another benefit of this wonder balm!
This is recommended for use after waxing, cosmetic surgery or laser surgery – the closest I have come to any of these is getting my eyebrows threaded, and it definitely helped to cool the area afterwards. I wish I could give you a more thorough review on the recommended usage, but unless someone wants to pay for me to get a nose job, that’s still a loooong way away! Otherwise, I have just used it when my skin is misbehaving – for minor outbreaks of dermatitis (those annoying moments when it’s not quite enough to warrant Dermaid), when it is feeling extra oily or oddly dry, just any moments where I feel that my skin is out of whack. It’s these smaller issues where I’ve found the Redness Reducing Balm really helps to re-balance my skin again. It’s like Rescue Remedy for your face!
Also, just look at the luxuriously simple packaging – everything about this product is soothing! (note that this is the 50ml pump tube – it is also available in an 85ml glass bottle with pump, which is even more beautiful)
The 50ml tube that I have is fantastic for travel, and it also stands up straight thanks to the flat lip – a great space saver when you live in a tiny 1 bed apartment! I also think that it is probably more practical than the glass bottle, but that is mainly because I’m ridiculously clumsy and would probably drop it on the bathroom tiles… as I have unfortunately done that a few times already with other products!
This is a really wonderful, versatile product. The fact sheet that I received said that it was perfect for oily or combination skin, but I could see it working for dry or ageing skin as well. It’s the sort of product that you will end up using regularly, and you will find that your skin will crave it when you try to go a few days without.
