There’s something completely luxurious about hand wash that doesn’t come from a supermarket. I feel like a proper grown up using this! And it’s a brand new product from a wonderful Australian company who supply to some of the most exclusive spas around the world. The Subtle Energies Body & Hand Wash* invigorates while it cleans, and is the perfect pick-me-up throughout the day – I find myself making excuses just to wash my hands. Plus, it looks great in my bathroom!
Based on the Indian science of Ayurveda, the Subtle Energies products all have specific effects on the three doshas – the dynamic forces or energies that govern your physiological activity. These are Vata (Air & Ether), Pitta (Fire & Water) and Kapha (Water & Earth). Take Deepak Chopra’s Dosha Quiz to learn more about your dosha type if you are curious. I did it, and learnt that I am Pitta with out of balance Kapha, which can lead to heaviness and sluggishness – so this wash is perfect as it pacifies Kapha and Vata, helping to encourage harmony through warmth and invigoration of the senses.
However, if you want more solid information, this wash contains three key ingredients/aromas:
- Himalayan Cedarwood: a rejuvenating oil that calms and relaxes the senses
- Lemongrass: cleanses and tones the skin due to its astringent nature – plus it smells ridiculously refreshing
- Limbu (Indian lime): a zesty and uplifting aroma that encourages energy
I have used it as a body wash, hand wash and bubble bath. It’s ideal as a body wash in the morning, as the scent really wakes you up, and it cleans thoroughly when used as a hand wash – it even worked after handling garlic! You don’t need much and it lathers nicely whilst still hydrating; however, if you’re not using hand cream daily then you might notice that it can be slightly drying. As for bubble bath, I’m not convinced. The bubbles were almost gone before I had even jumped into the bath! And no matter how relaxing the scent is, I’m a BIG fan of bubbles (I mean, it’s in my blog name!) and so I wouldn’t recommend for the bath.
Personal gripe? The front of the box that the bottle comes in has ‘cedarwood’ spelled incorrectly. I know, I’m developing a habit for finding these errors! Bonus points for providing both a lid and a pump though. Who doesn’t like being given options? Also, I really think that spending a little bit more on hand wash is definitely worth it, especially in winter when cold & flu germs are running rampant. You don’t want to be that sniffly commuter everyone glares at!
With their intriguing combination of traditional techniques and modern influences, I can’t wait to try more from this innovative brand.
