There is nothing more refreshing than a fruit-scented face cleanser, am I right? So when I received this aloe & grapefruit Foaming Cleansing Gel* from People for Plants, I was a goner from the moment I snapped open the lid. Phwoar – this stuff smells gooood! I’m not actually a fan of grapefruit as a food, but turns out I love the smell. It’s both fresh and heady, lingering without being overwhelming. So this is the perfect way to wake up each morning.
I was slightly wary of the word ‘foaming’ when I first saw this – as someone with fairly oily skin, the last thing I want is a product that strips my skin and causes it to produce excess oil. But that’s where the aloe saves the day! It gives it a thick, jelly-like consistency, and it lathers slowly (releasing that delicious grapefruit smell as it does). I only use a small amount, about the size of my thumbnail, to cover my face & décolletage. And when I rinse it off, my skin feels cleansed, but not dry or tight, with no irritation. And it definitely keeps oil at bay, which was a pleasant surprise given that it’s recommended for normal-combination (which can often lean more towards the ‘normal’ end of that scale). It’s gentle, but completely effective. My only tip is to use a facial cloth to wipe it off if you are using it at night, as I find it’s not strong enough if you’ve had a full face of make-up all day.
Of course, I can’t mention People for Plants without a quick nod to their dedication to natural ingredients. This particular product is made from 74.5% organic ingredients, as shown on the tube, and I just love a company who are confident enough to provide complete transparency. So much respect. Plus, cruelty free brands hold a special place in my heart!
