It’s party season, and that means it’s time to have some fun with eye makeup! We all love a good smoky eye, but sometimes it can be a little too dark and dramatic, so who better to offer an appropriate solution than cosmetics queen Victoria Curtis, who has created runway-worthy looks at events including the Dally M Awards and the Rachel Gilbert SS13 launch. Choosing a purple palette can soften a smoky eye and make it more appropriate for everyday, and the Curtis Collection Signature Mineral Quad in Runway* contains four individual shades that can take you from a soft, subtle daytime look to a high glam smoky eye.
With jet-milled powders and pearlised pigments, each shade in this quad glides on and stays on, providing a silky, smooth finish that looks fabulous in photos. They are also hypoallergenic and contain vitamins A and E to nourish and protect your eyelids. So even though the $75.50 price tag may seem hefty, you can be assured that you’re getting a quality product.
As you can see in the swatches, there’s a distinct variation between the four shades – the white, purple and bronze (to keep it simple!) are frosted, and what you see is what you get, whereas the deep maroon has a matte finish, and is darker than it looks in the palette. Application is effortless, the colours are intense, and it doesn’t crease or fade, especially if a primer is used to prep the eyelids first. These shades would suit a charcoal, grey or brown liner. Just be careful to get the combination right, so you don’t end up looking like you have a black eye!
The Curtis Collection Signature Mineral Quad comes in five collections: Exotic, Midnight, Smokey, London and Runway. They all come in the same sleek packaging, which is comparable to other high end brands such as MAC and Chanel. Currently available online and in boutique beauty bars, I expect we’ll be seeing a lot more from this brand in 2015.
