Pinch and a punch for the first day of the month! It’s officially winter in Sydney, and although temperatures are still in their 20’s, it’s time to start considering ways of bringing a little bit of sunshine into the inevitable dreary days ahead. Now I realise that bronzer pretty much screams summer to most people, and might seem wrong for winter, but this one is different. The Curtis Collection Baked Matte Bronzer in Bronzed Goddess* is a subtle, sophisticated bronzer that is ideal for contouring and adds radiance rather than an overly sunkissed look.
When talking about Curtis Collection, I have to mention their signature ‘lit from within’ glow, because that is one of their primary selling points – and this baked bronzer perfectly embodies that. It enhances and highlights, and is a definite improvement on the bronzers of my teenage years! It’s soft and blendable, making it perfect for contouring below the cheekbones and then adding definition to my forehead and the bridge of my nose. It absorbs shine and helps to create a glowing complexion – plus the swirl in the compact mean that you get an even coverage, or you can aim for the darker lines if you want to up the bronze factor!
I have used it both underneath and on top of makeup, and with multiple brush/sponge options. I was switching between a kabuki brush and powder brush to begin with, and then tried it with a blending sponge as well. They all worked in different ways, and gave different results. I did feel that it was almost too subtle at first, particularly on my naturally olive skin, and sometimes I wanted a little more oomph – but then I tried it with a drop of water, and WOAH! Intense colour and coverage. This really is a completely versatile product, that can be used however you want. (I unfortunately didn’t get a photo of it wet – but imagine the below swatch being much deeper and with extra staying power!)
For anyone who has ever seen a photo of Victoria Curtis, you can understand the hype around her makeup range. The woman is flawless! But she’s not just a pretty face. Victoria completed a Business degree, majoring in accounting and marketing, and landed a role in L’Oreal Australia’s marketing department when she graduated. So you can be assured that she definitely knows her stuff, and all of the ingredients in her namesake makeup collection have been researched to treat and protect the skin. This bronzer is hypoallergenic, paraben and fragrance free, making it perfect for all skin types. You really don’t get much better than this!
What do you think of wearing a bronzer in the cooler months?
