When I told you earlier this month that I would be trialling these two products from Australis, I didn’t realise how many different options I would actually have! I’ve used three different primers, tested it over face oil, and used a foundation brush/blending sponge/my fingertips. All in the name of a proper review, right?
The Paparazzi Perfect High Definition Foundation is marked as a ‘high coverage’ foundation, so I had reservations given my moody skin. I was worried that this would just clog everything up – but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s so easy to get a smooth, even finish without streaks or patches. The absolute best part about this foundation is that it gives you that sought-after dewy look, which I never believed was actually a thing until now!
Apparently it uses High Definition balancing pigments and white sapphire and pearl soft focus pigments (yay for beauty jargon!), which work together to reflect light and smooth the skin, giving a flawless finish & eliminating that ‘white flash’ look in photographs. It also contains Vitamin E and calendula oil, making your skin look good on the inside and out.
It lasts fairly well throughout the day – I could survive the day with only two touch-ups of powder, which is an achievement for me! And as long as I washed my face at night, I didn’t get any crazy break-outs. I ended up finding that the SHE Pure Magic Primer (Benefit POREfessional dupe, review to come!) provided the best base for this – not too watery, and not too heavy. And for my skin, either the blending sponge or fingertips gave the best finish; the foundation brush didn’t allow it to blend properly.
The Fresh & Flawless Pressed Powder is fast becoming everyone’s cult beauty product. Australis have even popped a little ‘BEST SELLER’ button next to it on their website. This is a 2-in-1 foundation and pressed powder, so you can use it alone (which I do pretty much every single day) or over liquid foundation (which I need to do to stop excess shine). It is recommended for oily or sensitive skin, and I can tell you that it definitely works. I’m onto my fourth compact since August last year. And at a measly $11.40 (and Australis is quite often on sale anyway), it’s possibly my favourite beauty item.
It’s your average powder compact, with a mirror in the lid and a flat foundation sponge hidden underneath. The actual powder is light, and it doesn’t flake or fall out when you use it (I’ve noticed with others that this can happen sometimes – one wrong move, and half the powder falls into the sink!). It provides a perfect matte finish whilst allowing your skin to breathe. The ingredients boast eucalyptus and clove for breakouts, camphor and menthol for antiseptic and cooling properties, and mica for an airbrushed finish. I just adore everything about it.
Excuse the cheesy grin, but you can see in the above photo that the combination of these two products gives a flawless, natural finish. It’s not too heavy, so I was happy to wear it during the day – and the colour of the Parapazzi Perfect was a great match, especially for summer (might need to dial it down just a little bit during the colder months).
The only complaint I have is that I am using the F&F Pressed Powder in ‘darkest brown’ – and my skin is definitely not the darkest brown! It’s a shame that they don’t offer anything darker than this.
Have you tried either of these products before? Or have you tried any of the other Australis foundations?
