No matter how hard you try to avoid it, your hair is exposed to damage on a daily basis. Washing with hot water, blow drying, brushing, straightening, curling, wind, sun, rain, air conditioning… the list goes on! Which is why I jumped at the chance to experience an in-salon bhave Rescue treatment* at the start of winter. It not only repairs damage already done, it also provides a protective shield for your hair – perfect to survive the cold months!
So what does the bhave Rescue treatment involve?
I met with Emma Kirkup, bhave technician, at Alan Coban Hairdressing in Westfield Sydney. We started with a wash using the bhave Rescue shampoo & conditioner, and then the Rescue formula was massaged into my locks. A space-age machine then attached a shower cap to my scalp and pumped heat underneath – any movement encouraged little tendrils of steam to escape, which was way more amusing than it should have been! This was rinsed out after 20-30 minutes, and Emma finished the treatment with a bouncy blow dry. My hair was SO SHINY and SO GLOSSY and I could not stop touching it!
Admittedly, my hair was in fairly good condition before we started, but the fact that an improvement is still visible under the microscopic lens proves how impressive the bhave Rescue treatment really is! From dull and dry with minor breakage to glossy and smooth with less flyaways.
The bhave Rescue treatment repairs and restores thanks to Replicine™ Functional Keratin®, raw natural keratin technology which has the ability to repair even the most damaged hair from within, due to it being the only keratin protein that can mimic and regenerate with your hairs’ own natural keratin. This allows the product to penetrate the hair shaft to repair and restore each and every strand of hair from the inside out, rather than superficially coating the hair surface for a temporary fix. Three months later and I can definitely tell you it made a difference – it was immediately softer and glossier, but the repair and restoration process was ongoing, with my hair going from strength to strength (ba-dum tsh!).
Looking after my locks post-treatment
Once my treatment was over, I left with a goodie bag of bhave products to continue caring for my hair at home. This included the rescue intense repair shampoo & conditioner, leave-in créme, deep intense conditioning masque and fresh ends.
I was given a little tip that I want to share – because of the replicine in the shampoo, it’s best to massage into your hair and leave for up to 5 minutes so that it can assist in repairing damage. This creates a mini Rescue treatment in your own home, especially if you relax in the shower while you wait, letting the steam do it’s thing! The continued use of the shampoo & conditioner has seen my hair stay shiny and healthy for months now, with those annoying flyaways actually getting the chance to grow out and join the rest of the group.
A quick overview of the bhave styling products
- The leave-in créme definitely softens my hair, but only if I blow dry it after applying. If I leave it in damp hair to air dry, it actually weighs my hair down. Weird catch 22! But used the right way, my hair is more manageable and bouncy.
- The deep intense conditioning masque smells like holidays, and provides extreme moisture in just 5-10 minutes. I love it, and people with stressed or coloured hair would benefit even more!
- fresh ends does exactly what it says! This product should be applied to dry hair or towel dried hair, and it’s my favourite product to quickly run through my ends when I’m in between appointments, controlling any flyaways that have appeared throughout the day and leaving my hair silky & smooth.
The bhave Rescue treatment is priced between $35- $45 and takes approximately 1 hour.
You could also opt for the bhave Smoothe treatment, which is more suited to hair that’s unmanageable, hard to control, high maintenance and frizzy. This process can take up to 3 hours.
