I was lucky to get up close & personal with Miss Universe Australia, the stunning Monika Radulovic, thanks to the fabulous team at Elucent Skincare. I love watching the Miss Universe pageant each year, and I think we’ve got a great shot with Radulovic – while the Bosnian beauty is undeniably gorgeous, she’s also a psychology graduate, a former refugee, and a genuinely warm and humble person.
She’s also the face of Elucent, who have partnered with Miss Universe Australia to stage the Elucent National Costume Competition. This fun opportunity gives emerging Australian designers the chance to create the costume that will be showcased at the international Miss Universe pageant.
“We are providing an opportunity to the Australian public to create and select a design symbolic of our nation. It is a great chance for budding Australian designers to share their talent and to be noticed on a national and international scale.” – Elucent Skincare spokesperson, Chris Mitropoulos
The national costume always comes with its fair share of controversy (Thailand have joined the ranks of ridiculous costumes this year), but I adore the drama and flair in this year’s winner. I think the mix of showgirl glamour and Aussie humour is perfection, and only Radulovic would somehow manage to make purple hair look sexy! I can’t wait to see her flaunt this on the international stage.

I’m not sure why I thought taking a photo next to the reigning Miss Universe Australia was a good idea… I was in heels, and I swear my hair and makeup looked alright at the time, yet Radulovic could be wearing a hessian sack and still take the crown! And on the same day my fiancé and I are celebrating 8 years together! (yes, I took him to a runway show – hey, I got fashion, he got to look at models, it was a win/win!)
Big thanks to the ladies at Elucent for the invitation, and congratulations to Tim on his delightful costume – Dame Edna would surely approve!
