I was lucky enough to attend the launch of IVI ORGANIC at Chiswick restaurant recently, and I was immediately in awe of founder Jeanette Tolomeo and her two gorgeous daughters, Giulia and Dominique. These women clearly love what they do, and they embody their brand’s message of health, simplicity and versatility. IVI ORGANIC uses Australian native ingredients to enhance the natural beauty of your skin. I was lucky enough to chat with Jeannette, and learn a bit more about this luxurious new skincare brand.
What were the main driving factors behind creating your own skincare brand?
It all begins with my love affair for natural and organic alternatives to conventional choices. I come from a beauty industry background of 20 years and I felt that I needed to take my knowledge and experience to another level and create a luxurious experience for all women that prefer to use natural and organic products.
You run IVI ORGANIC with your two daughters, Giulia and Dominique. Were they involved from the very beginning?
Yes they were. I wanted my daughters to be a part of the journey from the beginning as I think it is important to understand what it takes to start a business from the ground up. I knew that they both could bring their natural flair of creativity to our brand. I wanted to make this a family venture where we could share one dream, one goal and one passion.
You are obviously very passionate about organic ingredients. Which are your favourite ingredients to use?
Yes I am. My favourite ingredients, which are of course in our range, are my most loved – Kakadu Plum, which comes from the Northern Territory, is a fruit that has the highest antioxidant concentration in the world, Lilly Pilly, Davidson’s plum, Licorice root and Quandong just to mention a few.
Here at Bubbles & Blush, we love Australian brands. How important was it for your ingredients to be sourced locally?
That’s so good to hear! It was so important for us to source our ingredients locally, as Australia, our homeland has so many beautiful and beneficial extracts that have been used for thousands of years by our indigenous people that offer amazing results. In fact Australia has fruits and berries that contain the highest concentration levels of antioxidants in the world. That’s why we chose not to look far.
How involved are you in the creation of the products – do you regularly visit the beauty house?
I am very involved in all my creations. I have done the research myself to discover what ingredients I wanted to have in the formulations. I knew what skin problems I wanted to solve and researched for the ingredients that would help resolve these concerns. The recipe, as to speak, is mine, and then my formulators put it together. I visit quite regularly, especially in the development stages of the product, which takes a long time. A lot of testing and formula refinements have been carried out on our products before they have gone to launch. This stage is really important, as the formulation needs to be 100% the way I want it!
The illustrations for IVI ORGANIC are divine. Can you describe the design process, and the inspiration behind them?
Sure – Thank you! It all starts with our love affair with art, in particular with Picasso, which is a family favourite. His beautiful simple line drawings explore simplicity and power and this is what we saw IVI ORGANIC to be. Each line illustration represents one of us. Through these drawings, through every product, we share a part of us with our customers. The strength and sensual beauty behind the illustrations is meant to give every woman the inspiration and empowerment to be what she wants, to achieve what she wants and to dream what she wants.
What does an average day look like for the founder of IVI ORGANIC – and which parts are the most fun?
Well where do I start – my days are filled with such a variety of activities from running a business to being a mother of four. There is so much for me to learn and achieve and having an online business isn’t that easy, to say the least. I work on marketing along side Giulia and creative writing along side Dominique to create content and then we all work tirelessly to deliver a luxurious experience to our customers every day. Along with all of this I keep researching for the development of new products for our range to come. There is a lot going on every day but I would have to say the most enjoyable part would be developing my products and being my creative self. The designing aspect of the business excites me!
Where did the name come from?
The name comes from our middle initial’s IVI – my middle name is Isabel, Giulia’s is Valeria and Dominique’s is Indiana. So there you have it, our name – IVI! (pronounced like IVY) We thought the three letters looked lovely together, as it all ties in with the simplicity of our brand.
What is your top skincare tip?
Look after your skin everyday. Get into good habits at a young age because age creeps up on you very quickly and before you know it you are trying to reverse the signs of aging – prevention is better than the cure! Wash your face every day with a cleanser, just as you would your body, moisturize and protect it from the sun.
The brand has already come a long way in a very short period of time. What is next for IVI ORGANIC?
Yes – we are so happy with the way IVI ORGANIC is going. We never expected that it would take off so quickly. This is just the beginning of our journey. We have so much installed for our customers, my brain doesn’t stop! In September we have the launch of our much anticipated IVI COCO, this product will be something every woman is going to love and become addicted to! What we did is create a luxurious, beneficial, practical, organic hydrator that can be enjoyed by every woman on the go! It comes in a funky wind up stick that fits in any bag and can be taken anywhere and used anytime, especially when travelling. It will become your perfect little all over moisturising stick. It’s perfect for all skin types. Great for your face, body, hands and absolutely perfect for your lips. We are so excited for the launch of IVI COCO.
