Finding products gentle enough for sensitive skin, yet tough enough for combination skin, is my constant struggle. So the delicately formulated Gentle & Clean range from La Mav has come to my rescue! The range is packed with ingredients that are potent yet soothing. Designed for sensitive, dry and mature skin, they actively help to prevent the visible signs of ageing. Not ideal for when I’m spotty and oily, but perfect for when my skin is dry and sensitive (yes, it really does vary that much!).
The Jojoba Beads & Argan Oil Exfoliating Scrub* claims to be a ‘bio-exfoliant’, which I believe comes from the exfoliating properties of the bio-active ingredients: jojoba micro beads to encourage cell renewal, natural peptides from moringa seed (“Miracle Tree”) extract to shield skin from pollution, and polyphenols from ascophyllum nodosum extract to provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. It is luxuriously creamy, but does spread quite thin when applied to the face. The jojoba beads and oat extract gives a great scrub, removing impurities and dead skin cells, but the addition of aloe vera, rosehip and vitamin E keep it gentle enough for regular use. It leaves my skin fresh and taut, and is perfect for people who can’t handle harsh scrubs, but want that just-scrubbed feeling.
I was a little wary of the Hydra-Calm Cleansing Crème* because I don’t have a good history with cream cleansers – they never seen to get deep enough to remove dirt and oil, and quite often leave me feeling like I haven’t washed everything off completely. So this was a lovely surprise! It’s creamy, but also light and possibly water-based, which means that it gets in there and removes the daily grime, deeply hydrating and conditioning, and washing off without leaving residue. It perfectly preps the skin for serums or moisturisers. It uses essential fatty acids from sea buckthorn seed oil to replenish moisture and reduce skin irritation, bisabolol (derived from chamomile) and aloe vera to reduce redness, and a cocktail of natural ingredients to soothe the skin, such as ginkgo, green tea and kakadu plum. It definitely makes me open to trying more cream cleansers!
