As a huge fan of Sukin skincare, I was ridiculously excited when they launched DermaSukin in early 2014, offering a range tailored for dry or sensitive skin. It has the same values and ethos as its parent company, and continues to offer high quality, natural skincare at an affordable price, but it carries the Dermatologist Certified label, with accreditation on all formulations in the range.
Of course, I was immediately drawn to the DermaSukin Oil Balancing Wash, as I’m always keen to try a cleanser that suits my oily / sensitive skin. It’s non-irritating and non-sensitizing, and free from all the nasties: soap, fragrance, parabens, sulphates, mineral oils, artificial colours, animal derivatives and detergents. In fact, it contains just 8 ingredients, with a heavy focus on water and aloe vera to cleanse and soothe the skin without irritation. The key ingredients used to balance excess oil are benzyl alcohol, which destroys acne-causing bacteria on the surface of the skin, and citric acid, an AHA (alpha-hydroxy acid) that unclogs pores, removes dead skin cells and stimulates collagen production.
I’m already onto my second bottle of this, so that should tell you everything! It’s become a staple in my skincare routine, calming my skin down in between trialing new ranges and keeping acne and dermatitis at bay. One pump is enough for my face and decolletage, and it doesn’t have any discernible scent to it – or not one that hangs around long enough to notice, anyway. It lathers without getting too bubbly, and leaves the skin feeling fresh and clean. Keep in mind that it’s specifically for oily skin, so while it doesn’t strip away the natural oils, I do notice slight dryness on days when my skin is actually behaving itself. But it’s absolutely worth its weight in gold, and if you struggle with oily/combination skin, you need to buy this!
