2017 Resolutions // creating my best year yet

I’m a big fan of making new year’s resolutions. However, I suck at keeping them! So this year I’m creating some that read more like goals – with specific ways to achieve them. Read on to see why my 2017 resolutions will help me have the best year yet!

2017 Resolutions for the best year yet

1.CREATE MORE MEMORIES

I’m a self-confessed couch potato, and a massive introvert. This means that I tend to spend my downtime binge-watching TV series or pottering around the house. And while introverts are energized by spending time alone, and interacting with people at work during the week means I do need time to ‘recharge’, I’m aware that I’ve started using it as an excuse. So in 2017 I’m going to make more of an effort to say yes to things, and to start creating more memories.

Some of the activities I want to do this year include: paddleboarding, cycling around Centennial Park, indoor rock climbing, going to the theatre, and a hands-on class of some sort. Plus plenty of things I can’t even think of right now. I want to do more of the things I’ll remember!

2. BLOG ONCE A WEEK

This might seem less-than-ambitious to some, but I’ve fallen into a slump with blogging recently, so this is my small step forwards. I love nothing more than sitting at my laptop, overflowing with inspiration – but when life gets busy, I tend to forget this. So I’m going to aim for once a week, and hope that I occasionally manage to post more than this.

My first step to achieve this is developing a content calendar. Do you know any good templates? Let me know in the comments! I’m hoping to create a 3-month content plan based around seasons, trends, releases, national days etc.

3. COOK A MEAL FROM SCRATCH EVERY MONTH

Now I’m not terrible in the kitchen, and we never get takeaway, however we have fallen into the pre-made sauce trap. They’re just so tasty, and so easy to cook with! But I discovered mid-2016 that I have a dairy allergy, and this has made it much harder to cook the things I love. Turns out dairy – in all its forms, including milk, butter, cream, casein, lactose and whey – is in a lot of store-bought sauces!

So my main motivation behind this particular resolution is to be able to cook my favourite meals without having to worry. Dairy-free lasagne, butter chicken and cheesecake, oh my!
